Colorado native, Debra Hines and her husband have lived everywhere from California to Oregon and now call Iowa/Nebraska home. She's a world traveler, with stickers from the UK, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand and Australia on her passport. Somehow on her whirlwind planes, ships and automobiles tour, she still manages to spend most Friday evenings with her critique group and is invested in writing tales about the fictional residents of Spencer, Colorado. Debra is a long-time member of Romance Writers of America and its local chapter Romance Authors of the Heartland. She's a devoted mom to three, grandmother to four, and will follow Hugh Jackman anywhere.
“I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.”
Mindfulness is my word for 2020. I practice being fully present in the moment, aware of where I am and what I’m doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around me.
“What we think about we bring about.” I am a firm believer in affirmations. I speak my personal affirmations out loud every morning, declaring the specific attributes, habits and goals I want to attain. I chose the word mindfulness before the COVID-19 pandemic impacted our everyday lives. I believe mindfulness has served me well with my own personal anxieties in these stressful times. Practicing mindfulness was particularly helpful when finishing my last book Close to the Heart.
